Water and Prayer: We All Need Some - But Not Too Much!

Each of us understands the importance of water. As human beings we need water to survive. Almost everything around us needs water. The trees need water. The grass needs water. Obviously fish need water. Although most of you reading this usually have plenty of good water available to you, in third world countries there is a drastic need for clean drinking water.

For seven years my family lived within a couple of minutes of Lake Fork in Alba, TX. I have fond memories of catching large mouth bass in that lake. The water in that lake was blessed with some of the best bass in the world.

Even now, my family enjoys going to Center Hill Lake in middle Tennessee each year for family time and relaxation. There is something special about floating out on a pontoon boat enjoying the water all around.

As important as water is, and as fun as water can be, there comes a time when enough is enough. Where I live near Nashville, we just experienced the worst flooding we have had in decades, if not forever. Ask anyone around here and they will tell you we have had PLENTY of water. It is time to say enough water and begin drying out.

What does water have to do with praying? Well, just as we need water, we all need prayer too. Here is the point, there comes a time when we need to stop praying and get on with the work to which we are called. Get up! Get off your knees and get into the streets and begin to be a doer of the Word!
