Some things are important in life and some things really aren't. For example, does it really matter if you missed your favorite television show last week? If you are like me and you enjoy the television show 24, you may think it matters if you missed it, but in the big scope of things it doesn't.
Who won the Super Bowl five years ago? Who won the World Series seven years ago? Who won the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship in 2003? Who won the NASCAR championship in 2006? Who won the Miss America contest eight years ago? If you are a big fan of one of the teams, drivers, or contestants who won the events mentioned you probably know some of the answers to the questions asked. For the majority of people; however, the answers to these questions are unknown unless we do a search on the Internet for them. What appears to be of such great importance at a certain time may indeed be insignificant in the big picture of life.
Isn't if funny how we don't miss something that we don't like or need, but if we really like it or need it we miss it terribly when it's gone. You may not give much thought to something like water, but if you experience a drought in your area you will quickly begin to miss it. So although it might not matter if I miss my favorite television show it does matter if I miss certain other things.
One thing that matters greatly is the question that people often talk about during the spring, especially around Easter. Did Jesus really rise again after He died and was buried? That is more than a simple question to be flippantly asked and answered. If the answer is "no", that Jesus didn't really rise again, then He is still dead and certainly cannot be God the Son. If Jesus isn't the Son of God, He is nothing more than a mere human and is not worthy of our worship and devotion; and we are still condemned because our sin would not have been removed.
The great news is that Jesus did indeed rise again and He is very much alive! As the risen Lord, He has proven Himself to be the Son of God who has paid the penalty for our sins. Because He lives Jesus has demonstrated Himself as the overcomer of sin, death, and the grave and the only provider of true Success in life! Does it really matter that you missed the television show? No. Does it really matter that Jesus died for you, was buried, and rose again? Absolutely!
